Push-back on construction delays

The advocacy group that has for over a decade pressed the state to build the 34-mile recreational trail between Lake Placid and Tupper Lake, Adirondack Recreational Trail Advocates (ARTA), has sent an open letter to Governor Cuomo and the responsible state agencies requesting that the 3+ year construction project be accelerated.

Adirondack Recreational Trail Advocates sent this open letter to Governor Andrew Cuomo on June 10 asking that the construction of the Adirondack Rail Trail be accelerated.  ARTA also asked that the rail restoration south of Tupper Lake be delayed until a real economic analysis is done that demonstrates potential train ridership and the presence of a responsible operator.  ARTA also asked the Govrnor to expedite the creation of a citizen organization to coordinate the use, maintenance, promotion, and financing of a "trail towns" approach to regionla support for the trail.  News responses to ARTA's call for action is linked here.
