The 34-mile multipurpose trail starts at Lake Placid and ends at Tupper Lake and serves users of all ages and abilities year-round. It enables residents and visitors to enjoy healthy exercise, commune with nature, and soak up Adirondack history. Use this website to plan your trip.
The Adirondack Rail Trail is managed by the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYS DEC). The Adirondack Rail Trail Association (ARTA) partners with NYS DEC to addresses trail maintenance and amenities.

PHASE 3 from Floodwood Road to Tupper Lake is open. Users should be aware that there may be some construction occurring; however, the trail is open to the public.

Right now, a group of generous donors have pledged to match donations to help us raise $34,000 before the end of the year. These funds support trail amenities, including port-o-potties, trash removal, and signs in 2026.
Please help us reach this goal and double the impact of your gift!
