National Trail Days Service Projects
Thank you to our #NationalTrailsDay volunteers who braved the rain and mosquitoes on June 6th to install pet waste stations and remove invasive plant species!
The Adirondack Rail Trail Community Day returns on Saturday, June 20th
Our second annual Adirondack Rail Trail Community is just around the corner! We’ll have stewardship projects in the morning, rides throughout the day, and a party with music, raffles, and food in Riverside Park in Saranac Lake on Saturday, June 20th.
Thank you to Bike Adirondacks for once again spearheading the effort of coordinating this event, benefiting the Adirondack Rail Trail Association. Registration is free. We hope that you’ll join us for this family-friendly celebration, showcasing the pristine landscape, communities and businesses.

Stewardship projects for Rail Trail Community Day
Participants are invited to join optional volunteer service projects that will take place between 10a-12p at various points along the Rail Trail corridor. Register here to sign up for trail projects. Each project is guided by a leader. Tools and materials will be provided.
Projects include:
Pet waste station installation and sand removal – Sponsored by Mirror Lake Inn & Spa
The task here is to install two pet waste stations at Fowler’s Crossing and remove sand from the intersections in Ray Brook
Debris Removal – Sponsored by Grand Union
The task here is to remove debris, such as downed trees, from the side of the trail between Tupper Lake and Floodwood Road to clear the area for mowing.
Fence Repair – Sponsored by Hyde Fuel
This project will repair wooden fencing in Saranac Lake that was damaged during the winter.
Invasive Species Removal – Sponsored by Salt of the Earth Bistro
This task involves removing invasive species from along the trail around Floodwood Outpost.
Kiosk installation – Sponsored by VOCO Waterfront Hotel, Saranac Lake
This project entails installing a kiosk adjacent to the trail at the Will Rogers Connector trail.
Generosity At Work
Thanks to a grant from The North Country Health Heart Network and Always Franklin, volunteers are installing pet waste stations at trailheads. Please dispose of pet waste properly in trash cans.
Just a reminder, dogs on the trail should be on a leash at all times
